Porsche Specific Upgrades & Fixes
We offer several unique Porsche Specific Upgrades & Fixes and are always coming up with innovative solutions. On the classic air-cooled Porsches, we find the pockets often break and original speakers are dry rotted. We have a solution for both. For the early water-cooled ones, we make a cool slide in cupholder, or re-fabricate the “batwing” panel in front of the shifter to house the USB/ AUX in for the Porsche Classic radio. We also offer high performance custom designed subwoofer enclosures for all generations of 991's, Boxster's and Cayman's.
A Cup Holder for Your Early Porsche Boxster or 996
I know, I know we shouldn't be distracted by our beverage while driving. But sometimes on that long cruise or distant trek to the track, don't you wish you had a place to put your drink? This was inspired by our customers request for the early models that didn't offer a factory cup holder. We made a few and the response was phenomenal. Constructed out of 6mm (¼") ABS plastic and contoured to the perfect angle with a 73mm (2 ⅞") opening, it slides in securely between the lower and upper console.
Before the cup holder is installed
Just slide the cup holder in, or out if you don't want to use it.
Done! It even fills in the unpleasant gap between the two consoles.

A Subwoofer for Porsche 964, 996, 997, Boxster and Cayman
We have tried many different approaches to getting clean tight bass into these cars without compromising esthetics or functionality. This subwoofer enclosure sits in the passenger footwell perfectly and features a 10" Diamond Audio driver that handles 150 Watts RMS. The sound is rich, deep and clean. Even in convertibles, for which we originally designed it. The carpet is either standard or Porsche factory carpet and the match is usually perfect or very close, though we can't guarantee it. Note: Will not work with factory BOSE subwoofer mounted to the side of the console.
At only 4 ½” deep it leaves plenty of space for even long legged passengers. It sits equal to where your feet would be positioned on the driver's side pedals.
The back is finished, wired and ready for an amplifier. Note: A separate amplifier, wiring and installation is required.
No one will ever know, until you turn it on.
Due to the limited space in the 964 foot well we placed this one in front of the passenger seat.
Same idea as our more popular 996 / 997 / Boxster box. A down-firing Diamond Audio 10” Sub.

Porsche 911 Speaker Fix
As these cars become more classic, the foam on the factory speakers deteriorates rendering them useless. For the front speakers we usually upgrade from the original 5¼" to a 6½" woofer and a better tweeter in the stock location. For the rear we sell a custom mounting plate that will accommodate a 4" coaxial speaker as well as the stock grille for that original look.
Even on this low mileage car the foam surround on the original speakers just disintegrated over time.
The hole on the door panel gets opened up to accommodate the larger woofer, but no metal is cut on the door itself.
An ABS spacer ring is used to compensate for the uneven door skin. The speaker will be mounted to the metal and needs to sit flat.
We always recommend the sound deadening. The original plastic vapor barrier is replaced with Dynamat Extreeme and some is also installed on the outer door skin.
The result, a clean original look, with a huge improvement in sound.
The rear factory speaker is part of the mounting plate that holds the original rectangular grille. And there are no good 4x6” replacement speakers with this grille shape.
So what we came up with is a custom mounting plate, that allows us to use the original grille while utelizing a high quality 4” co-axial midrange and tweeter. No modification to the rear deck is necessary.
Again, a clean original look, with a huge improvement in sound.

Porsche 911 Broken Door Pocket Fix
Do you own a "Modern Classic" 911? Then chances are that there is a crack in the plastic of your door pocket. This was a bad design from the factory and if this annoys you, we have a fix for it. You can either bring the car to our shop in Boston, or remove the six screws (don't lose the countersunk washers stuck to the carpet) and send the pockets to us. We clean and reseal the original plastic, and then add a reinforcement piece behind it plus supply a new longer screw and countersunk washer. We have been doing this fix for over ten years and it holds up great.
A very common problem, the plastic cracks around the mounting screw. This one is not too bad but eventually the whole pocket will hang off.
The original plastic is sealed back together and reinforcement added along with a new longer screw and countersunk washer.
Here is an example with the broken pocket removed from the car.
The fixed pocket prior to reinstallation.
